Nangarhar holds grand ceremony to mark ANDSF day

JALALABAD: The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) day was marked during a grand ceremony in Sherzai stadium of Jalalabad, the capital city of eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday.
Attended by hundreds of local residents, elders, influential figures, women, students and government officials, the provincial governor Shah Mahmood Miakhel said congratulated the day to all Afghan soldiers and the war-suffered nation and prayed for the souls of martyrs as well as extended his condolences to the heirs of ANDSF martyrs.
He said that the provincial military council plans were fully implemented in previous years and that many districts were cleared of insurgents’ presence.
He also said that military operations were suspended due to Reduction in Violence period, hoping that a durable peace be achieved in the country, so that according to him bring about economic self-sufficiency to the country.
The governor said that ANDSF bravery and sacrifices led to increasing revenue in the province as well as could implement around 14 hundreds of development projects across Nangarhar.
Meanwhile military officials spoke on the occasion and thanked people and government’s support of the Afghan forces, adding that the forces could defeat enemies in every combat lines.
The event continued with appreciating of the Afghan forces by officials and local people, theatre shows, music and poetry festivals.
