Afghan forces ready to strongly defend people, national interests: NSC

President Ashraf Ghani discussed general security status of the country and approaches to drive down the cost and make savings in the defense and security institutions, mainly in fuel consumption, maintenance and purchases, during the National Security Council meeting Monday evening at the Presidential Palace.  It was urged that connecting defense and security institutions to other power sources other than fuel will be far cost-effective, according to a presidential statement. The president stressed that savings will not impact the benefits and services to defense and security forces but will contribute to effectiveness and quality of services to these forces.The council iterated that the forces are in active defense posture and prepared to strongly defend the Afghan people, national interests, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.
